Magical sundays

logo

everything I said before about the long wait?!? absolutely worth it.

There’s something magical about NFL Sundays. I’m just glad I’m off tomorrow and don’t need to get up because there is no sleep on my horizon.

I have a never say die/never give up attitude about my Giants that usually gets me thwapped on Twitter. Tonight, it paid off. This team showed the heart they talked about. Eli/offense could have given up after the pick, but they buckled down and will have a wonderful flight home.

NEVER SAY DIE

The only downside of football…

Waiting all day for SNF!

I love football and have for more than 20 years, but the one downside? The time between games *especially* when my Giants are playing at 8pm. The day is interminable and the week between games after a loss (or four!) seems never ending. Anyone else struggle with this?

It has been a mediocre season for the Giants on the field due to injuries but what has impressed me is the young talent. Herzlich, Paysinger, Amukamara, Ballard, Cruz…. capped off by Blackburn’s return (with an INT!) last week. Epitomizing the spirit behind next man up. While I’m still holding out hope for this year, the young kids give me hope for next year.

women fans confuse me

I guess this is where I have to congratulate Beth for her Eagles’ win, huh? Meh ;-)

I was at tonight’s game and while it was a heartbreaking loss for my Giants, there really is nothing like a live football game. The atmosphere is wonderful. It was the second game in recent memory where some friends & I were just walking through the tailgate from the train and random people offered us to tailgate with them. That’s part of why I always have extra cash on hand. I don’t want to seem like a mooch off people’s generosity. It seems to be always appreciated, if not accepted.

The other thing I love about tailgating? The sea of blue and white. Sure, you get the occasional red jersey or an icky Eagles invader but it’s really a see of color. Something that’s missing in other sports where you have a hodge podge. Even my Yankees – you get every color under the sun. I don’t mind the pink for breast cancer that the NFL does, but I love that jerseys stay their proper colors. The green, orange … and don’t even get me started on pink! drive me nuts in a baseball game. I love that women can support their teams wearing team colors – not be pressured into pink the way you see it in baseball.

Anyway, here’s to a better week and a Thanksgiving full of family, friends, food and of course… FOOTBALL

Are we really that rare?

I saw this image on Pinterest a few weeks ago – and I’m still thinking of it.

I’ve been a Giants fan (yes, Beth and Tara allow me to exist ;-) ) for 20+ years, and I can’t believe women football fans are still a rarity. And that’s without even getting into the fact, that I play fantasy too!

So… my first post here and I was thrilled to be asked to contribute. Wanted to take a quick moment to introduce myself. My name is Cari and I’m a New Yorker by birth but life and work have taken me to Australia, Japan, Spain and the Czech Republic, among other places. Do you know how hard it was to find American football in Japan before the live streaming that is so prevalent now?

Anyway, back in NYC now and moved home just in time to see the Giants magical ’07 season. 18-1 forever! Simms, Bavaro, Cross, Strahan and LT are some of my favorite Giants but some more current/recent ones, including Manning, Boss and of course Cruuuuuuuuuuuuuuuz are growing on me. I joke that I always bleed blue, whether or not it has pinstripes depends on the season.

I look forward to contributing here and meeting some more Giants fans.
