I completed week 1 of The Gunnar Challenge this past Sunday. The challenge is an 8 week online weight loss and fitness program. Gunnar Peterson, a Hollywood Personal Trainer, created this challenge to provide daily custom workouts and low-calorie meal plans.
The best thing about this challenge to me is the daily diary. I can record what I eat and it will show how many calories I have left. My goal is to have 1200 calories or less which wasn’t much of a challenge until the weekend hit! I was bad on Sunday and Memorial Day! It was too hard to pass up the cold beers and grilled burgers!
The first day of the program started with a rest day. I was so ready to start the challenge I decided to go for a run instead of resting. What kind of program starts with a rest day? I completed four of the customized workouts last week and incorporated two of my own. The two I incorporated included two hours of strenuous hiking one day and an hour of intervals on the treadmill the other day. I liked Gunnar’s workouts, which included cardio and strength; everything from jump roping, planks, squats, to lunges and pushups. I used eight pound weights but hope to use ten this week!
Overall I wasn’t bored doing the workouts which is important for me to stay interested. I hope to start following his meal plan but have trouble getting to the grocery store with my hour commute to work and home each day. My main goal is tone up and maintain my current weight. I already started Week 2 and will let you know how it goes next week!
